When is the best time for a 3D 4D Ultrasound?
Hello Baby 3D offer 3D/4D ultrasounds anytime after 15 weeks however we do recommend between 26-34 weeks as we feel this is the absolute ideal time to come and see your baby. This is because baby isnt too big or too small. In saying this, it really does come down to the position of your baby and how much fluid you have around your baby. Another big factor is where your placenta sits, its either anterior (at the front of the uterus) or posterior (at the back) so if you can find this information out and let us know at the time of making your booking we can determine the absolute best time for you personally. If baby isnt too squished and you do have plenty of fluid you can still see baby quite clearly right up until your due date.
What is the difference between 2D, 3D, 4D and Real View ultrasounds?
2D ultrasound is the traditional yet basic type of ultrasound that has been used for years. They provide flatter, two-dimensional, black and white images of your baby. Remember the scan your obstetrician did at your first appointment to confirm bub was in there? That’s a 2D scan.
3D ultrasound is an advanced method, which captures a true, three-dimensional image of your baby, often allowing the ability to see specific facial features and well-defined formation.
4D ultrasound is an actual moving three-dimensional image of your baby in utero. Actions such as yawning, turning and even subtle movements can be seen. There have even been cases where expectant parents watched as their child sucked their thumb, waved or just peacefully slept!
Real View is the absolute latest in technology and provides a “real view” inside the womb making it look more realistic than ever before!!
How accurate is the early gender ultrasounds from 15 weeks?
We want to provide this service to all pregnant women that wants to know the sex of their baby as soon as possible. Our early gender determination ultrasounds are extremely accurate however we only do it from 15 weeks onwards. Factors, such as baby’s position, amount of amniotic fluid, physical stature and body mass of mum can affect the ability to determine the sex but on almost every occasion we are able to determine the gender within the session. We do have a guarantee in place that if this is not the case we will get you to return for free (for as many sessions as required within 30 days) until we do! Why wait? Get organised for your babies arrival and book today!
How much of my baby will I see?
The ultrasound images we capture are totally dependent upon the position of your baby during the ultrasound. If your baby is facing forward, we can generally capture excellent images of your baby’s face, hands and feet. If, however, your baby is in a downward facing position or has their face pressed up against the placenta, then capturing specific features can present a challenge. In saying this we are very determined to get you the best possible images on the day but if we cant for these reasons then we do offer a free follow up scan as we completely understand that these babies run their own show!! 🙂
Is this a medical scan?
Absolutely not. Our 3D/4D ultrasounds are completely ELECTIVE scans designed to help capture images of your unborn baby for photo albums and to share with family and friends. We recommend you to have your morphology scan before coming to us as this detects if your baby has any abnormalities. While our staff have been trained by a medically qualified sonographer they themselves are not medically trained therefore not in a position to provide any medical advice or diagnosis in any way.
Can I listen to my baby’s heart beat during this ultrasound?
Definitely. The machines we use have the ability to let you listen in to your babies beating heart. While you are able to listen to the heartbeat, we are unable to confirm for you what the heart rate actually is, as this constitutes providing medical advice, which our staff is not qualified to provide. It’s such a great moment to hear when you’re pregnant! We also make sure your baby’s heartbeat is always on the video recording for you to take home to enjoy over and over again!
Do you scan women who are having multiples?
Absolutely! We love scanning women having multiples. Unlike other companies we do not charge any extra either as we believe this is just unfair!
Can I invite my friends and family to my appointment?
Absolutely! Both clinics on the Sunshine Coast & Townsville have enough seating for at least an extra 4 adults but we can always just bring in more chairs! We have loads of toys to keep the children busy and are also very much welcome to come too! We want you to be able to share this exciting moment with as many of your loved ones as possible.
